The Community Suicide Prevention Initiative (CSPI) engages in a number of community outreach efforts to increase public awareness about suicide prevention methods and to collect feedback to inform plan development

The Community Suicide Prevention Initiative (CSPI) engages in a number of community outreach efforts to increase public awareness about suicide prevention methods and to collect feedback to inform plan development, including:

  • Monthly community forums held in locations around Orange County and online.
  • The CSPI Facebook Group
  • Community distribution of brochures and lawn signs promoting suicide lifeline information during Suicide Prevention Month.
  • A video PSA featuring community members, mental health and faith leaders. The video is shared on local cable television and through social media and other online platforms.
  • The "Ambassadors of Hope" program engages community volunteers in suicide prevention awareness and hope-building activities.
  • Webinar training on "Talk Saves Lives" by the OC chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
  • And events such as "Cultivating Hope in the Community" event at Mile Square Park in Fountain Valley which including a screening of "The S Word" as well as a panel discussion with Saddleback Church founder Kay Warren, Supervisor Andrew Do, and Health Care Agency Director Dr. Clayton Chau.
